Release 1- Gnawa music with Master Mahmoud Gania

The first release arrives on Christmas Day—it’s a Gnawa gift from my personal cassette collection. Enjoy the listening.

SAWTE AL MAARIF (The Voice of Wisdom) presents EL MAALAM MAHMOUD GANIA, meaning ‘The Master Mahmoud Gania.’

Maalam: In Gnawa culture, the term ‘Maalam’ refers to a spiritual and musical master, a figure of great respect within the community. Mahmoud Gania was a prominent figure in Morocco’s Gnawa music scene.
